Engineers didn’t just create an age of steam by turning the metal into engines, but cast iron was also used in bridge building and supports for tunnels.
Go to any steam fair and you will see traction engines gleaming with love, and oil cans. The owners take huge pride in keeping these old cast iron machines alive. The use is actually more alive today than you would realise as most gear – cardboard boxes in modern cars are made from the metal.
